INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY SPOTLIGHT; MISS RAPTURE CHIMA

Every year on the 8th of March the world celebrates women from every corner of the earth. Although this happens every year, no year has been the same. While it is convenient to see the annual themes as the differentiating factor, we understand that every year different women face and conquer very different challenges. And for us, the colours, and shades of strength that they represent as they continue to break the bias and excel in different spheres of life make each year unique.

This year we acknowledge and celebrate every woman on earth especially those who have embraced digital technology to make a difference in their own unique ways. They have proven that digital innovation contributes hugely to closing gender gaps in every ramification. One such woman is miss Rapture Chima. Rapture is the founder of Rarbol, a Wellness, Nutritional Health, and Beauty Brand. As a Health and Wellness Coach, she leverages technology to coach her clients and help them transform their lives by improving their health span, self-care, and prioritizing their personal well-being.

Beyond her business, her passion to help transform lives led her to volunteer with us in June 2022. In an interview with her last week, she shared her experience working in our organization.

How has it been volunteering with Youths for Rural Education and Job Creation Initiative?

“It was one of my best decisions last year, working in the field with people of like minds and passion was an experience I looked forward to every Friday and Saturday. It has made me more patient and understanding because with very little children, you can’t expect them to reason like adults, it would only bring out the inner child in you and somewhere, it would just click. I looked forward to seeing their beaming faces each time we would come to their school. Some would nearly knock you off your feet because you would have to be hugging ten of them at a go”.

What has been the highlight of your experience with the organization?

“The most inspiring moments that were mesmerizing for me was each time a child’s progress was tracked and I notice the child could do what he/she couldn’t do. If it was in church, it would be called a miracle but maybe at a Youth For Rural Education And Job Creation Initiative, miracles do happen too”.

How would you describe the people at Y4RED?

Angels in human forms who do not necessarily have the time but have the heart to help our many loving children across all our projects and initiative. Everyone I have worked with so far, selflessly reflects love, compassion, understanding, and patience in teaching these children. They make learning so easy for children in a fantastic way.
I remember the first time I heard our founder and amiable leader Paradise Ozibo say that “ no child can resist love” it sank deep. It was an overwhelming statement and I feel the children understand this too because, even when it’s not February or December, love lives in this place. I believe that’s the reason for the miracles I see in these children’s academic performances. It’s an honour to have served in the field because these are memories I cherish.

Now that you are leading the communication team, does it feel different?

No, it is true that currently due to distance I volunteer virtually but no matter where I am, this family is one of the best places I can ever be. In all, I am glad because I am not just giving but I am also developing some professional and interpersonal skills in this new position.

What would you like to tell other young people out there?

I would like to tell them that it pays to live not just for yourself but for others too. For instance, it has been productive here, in recent times some volunteers with Y4RED have been beneficiaries of opportunities exclusive to the people in the organization. So, if anyone is looking for where to volunteer within the environs of Ebonyi State or virtually from anywhere in the world, Youth for Rural Education and Job Creation Initiative is the place to be in. Come and Join Us.
Thank you very much for having us.
