Today, we at Y4red are thrilled to announce a transformative step forward in our mission to empower young minds through education: a generous grant from the Z Zurich Foundation. This grant will catalyze the establishment of an early childhood and literacy development center, a beacon of hope that will illuminate the path to education for children across Ohatekwe and its four neighboring villages: Achara Nkaleke, Enyadulogu, Enyibuchiri, and Ofoke Ishieke.

For the past four years plus, Y4red has been deeply engaged with the communities of Ebonyi State, championing the cause of literacy and early childhood education. Our efforts have been driven by a simple yet profound belief: that education is the cornerstone of a thriving community. The new early childhood and literacy development center will be a hub of learning and growth for children aged 0-5, providing them with the foundational skills necessary for lifelong success. Research indicates that early childhood education is crucial for cognitive, social, and emotional development. According to UNICEF, children who receive early education are more likely to perform better academically and have improved social skills, higher self-esteem, and enhanced attention spans.

In addition to early childhood education, the center will focus on foundational and digital literacy for children and adolescents.
